Trying a new Shoutbox!
« on: Oct 23, 2014, 21:17:42 »
The shoutbox seems to regularly break so...  I have installed a new one..

It only appears to be allowed to go top or bottom of the forum, so it is at the bottom .

give it a go, comments welcome.   This one supports more things, including /me and images

hi,

yes i have left it so it shows notifications of forum posts, I thought it would be a good idea as it is in a prominent position on the forum page it makes it easy to see if somebody has posted on a forum and gives a link to click to visit it.

It makes the forum and shoutbox more integrated and not insular.  It wouldn't make sense if it was a very busy forum though as it would make chat more difficult.

I would be interested in feedback as it can be turned off or can be set to only show the first post in a new thread etc..

At some point i will add a post in the website section listing some of the extra commands and features of this shoutbox too. assuming it becomes at least majorly liked  and it works for more than a week or so without locking up like the old one  :D

I'd prefer to not show forum updates, and just be the old box where it shows comments between one and other.

it appears the majority of feedback so far do not like the new shoutbox, even though it works and has a lot more features..

Can people say what they would prefer?  The old one back? Settings changed on this one?

Nobody has used it to chat yet so it seems a bit premature to discard something that has never been used in anger ?

all comments welcomed

thanks

Bill
