« on: Jun 27, 2009, 12:20:35 »
hi friends,

I just finished restoring my chevette saloon 1977, and it s great, will upload pictures soon..... i have one problem, the engine runs great, when cold it starts on the first turn but when in normal working tempretur it fails to start. it makes the sound as if the battery is flat. its a new battery btw. then it cools down  and its ok.

a friend of mine told me that maybe its  advanced timing, and maybe points too open,.  i just said i ll ask you guys here. any ideas??

thanks

david ;D

When you say it makes a sound as if the battery is flet . .does the engine turn over but slowly, or does it just click and do nothing?
It's better to burn out than to fade away . . .

Sounds suspiciously like your starter motor is sticking when hot. It does get rather warm down there, and over time it just wears out, draws a large current when warm and pulls the battery volts down.
