Estates and Chevannes - have you got one??
« on: Sep 03, 2009, 22:01:54 »
Just thought given the preceived rarity value that its worth a punt to try and ascertain just how many are out there. Whenever Chevannes are discussed then its in terms of a handful and the same is true of estates, so If you have either can you just post a reply detailing what it is (i.e. 1976 Chevette L Estate), no need for Reg numbers etc, just trying to get a better idea.   ;)

I have neither but i know of a 'semi derilict' chevanne about 30ish miles of me.  Havent seen it so i dont know how loosely the term 'semi derilict' is being used.  I think it might be an '81

And we also now know of 4 estates in maidenhead

Plus the one at Westlakes Salvage....which unfortunately has been scrapped :'(

I know of quite a few and as an example I'll show you what I mean -:

Me - 1976 Chevette L Estate - soon enroute to Ken in NI
Clara - Green Estate
Neil - Bronze estate bought of ebay in May
Current Ad - 4 Estates, 2 E's and 2 L's
Ians Mate - 5 Estates I believe and 2 Chevannes
Ken - 2 Chevannes
Mick in Ireland - Red ex Govt Est
John @ Retro Body Kits - Green Estate
New Forum member - Blue Estate
Southern Ireland - Blue Chevanne
Sold from Classics Mag - Blue Chevanne

So at the moment I know of 15 Estates and 6 Chevannes, there are obviously others in Limbo (Not registered with DVLA, or Regd with DVLNI, or in Southern Ireland and not registered with either, or in Limbo between DVLA as advised exported but never regd with DVLNI) and there will no doubt be others like the 19,000 miler that was recently scrapped as part of the scrappage scheme, or that are in garages and barns and collections. If you've seen or own one please add a post.

Thanks Mal

So that would be 16 estates (not counting the Silverlake one as its dead) and 7 Chevannes (my old one was scrapped yesterday, it split across the bulkhead and floor when they towed it out  :'(  )

Any Advance  ???

There is that yellow one with white panels that is always at billing and comes up about 20 times if you type chevanne in to a google image search

That's the one now owned by Ken in NI, which is causing all sorts of issues in trying to match Jamaica yellow paint, as the colour supplied when given the paint code is more of a dirty beige!

So no advance as yet but early days.

Got to agree that looks a peach . . but its on the other side of the world so it doesn't count in terms of cars left in the uk
