Ashley Exhaust.
« on: Feb 06, 2011, 16:21:59 »
Anyone fitted an Ashley exhaust to there car?  ???
Was it worth doing, performance wise?
And are they hard work to fit? They have to be joined to the old exhaust at some point dont they?
Thanks Chaps.  :)

The Ashley exhaust is just the middle and rear as far as I'm aware, and hence needs to fit to your front pipe, makes a nice burble and probably seems faster as a result, but I can't see it making a huge difference on its own.

Did you get anywhere with your gearbox??

Not yet Mal, my backs giving me trouble again. I haven't been driving the Chevette much, so the noisey third gear hasn't bothered me !
Every cloud and all that!
Plus I have to change it on the drive, so some dry weather wouldn't go amiss...  :(
I've got my back op two weeks today, a couple of months to get over that, then some work on the car to be done!!
It might stop raining by May.  ;D

I appreciate its a fair old drive out . . .  but if you want to (and I'm not doing anything) then pop up to good old Carlisle one weekend (I'm busy the 19th feb) and I'll happily give you the use of a four post ramp and give you a hand to fire it in, should be done in about an hour.

Let me know,
Cheers
Mal

Thanks for the offer Mal, your a saint!  :Worship:
Don't think I will have the time to get up before I go into hospital though.
If its OK with you I might just try my luck and get in touch after my op, if thats not too cheeky...

Thanks again for the offer!
Cheers Kev.

Hi Kev,

No problem, just give me a shout whenever and we'll sort something out, its a damn site easier on a four post ramp with an 18v Snap on gun, long extension, wobbly end (ooh er missus) and a deep socket set, have it done in no time  ;) . Hope the back eases up soon.

Cheers
Mal

Passenger window down, stick spare wheel vertically in window, two or three burly friends and over she goes onto her side... ;D ;D ;D ;D That's how I used to change gearboxes on rallies, I think with four of us involved our best time was 11 minutes. :o :o  Maybe not the way to do it with a nice road car though! :P :P :P Wish I had a photo of it...
