1980-84 Chevette front and rear sheetmetal
« on: Jul 20, 2016, 15:52:10 »
Hi ! New member here, and happy to find this site. There are not any Chevette clubs around here. I do not believe there is a Chevette club within a thousand miles of here. I hope I am posting this in the correct area.
So, here's what I am up to;I have the opportunity to trade a Ford Cologne 4.0 V6 for a "rust free" 2 door 76 Chevette body shell, with what appears to be a complete parts car. I am supposed to go and inspect them in the next couple of days.
I had seen pictures of Brazilian and U.K. Chevettes and that is how I knew they came with better looking sheet metal than what they stuck us with here in Canada (and in the U.S.)
I would like to find out how much a 1980-1984 Vauxhall Chevette front "clip" (all the exterior bodywork forward of the doors) is worth. Assuming it can be found in decent condition. Also the rear tail light panel and both of the bumpers.
I doubt that I can even afford to ship it, but when you want something bad enough and think way outside the box. . . well there is always a way.

Welcome aboard, realistically I'd guess the front panel work complete I.e wings, bonnet, slam panel etc will cost the best part of 500, plus lights, bumpers, rear panel, rear lamps, and shipping, I'd be surprised to see change from 1000 . .
It's better to burn out than to fade away . . .

Hi - and welcome.  I have recently replaced my front wings and unused steel panels were difficult to find and quite expensive . New old stock Vauxhall wings are currently going for around 500 each on EBAY and pattern ones (non Vauxhall) about 300 each.  The nosecone and slam panel don't come up for sale very often but  they tend to be around 400 when they do. So all in all I would guess that you will need to budget about 2000 to get a set of front panels exported to you. You could have fiberglass panels as these are available . One of our members has made a complete fibreglass one piece front which looks great. - Scotty
